Greeter- Stephanie Banjak for one week

Barely the day started and… it’s already six in the evening.

Barely arrived on Monday and it’s already Friday.

… and the month is already over.

… and the year is almost over.

… and already 40, 50 or 60 years of our lives have passed.

… and we realize that we lost our parents, friends.

and we realize it’s too late to go back…

So… Let’s try, despite everything, to enjoy the remaining time…

Let’s keep looking for activities that we like…

Let’s put some color in our grey…

Let’s smile at the little things in life that put balm in our hearts.

And despite everything, we must continue to enjoy with serenity this time we have left. Let’s try to eliminate the afters…

I’m doing it after…

I’ll say after…I’ll think about it after…

We leave everything for later like ′′ after ′′ is ours.  Because what we don’t understand is that:

Afterwards, the coffee gets cold…

afterwards, priorities change…

Afterwards, the charm is broken…

afterwards, health passes…

Afterwards, the kids grow up…

Afterwards parents get old…

Afterwards, promises are forgotten…

afterwards, the day becomes the night…

afterwards life ends…

And then it’s often too late….

So… Let’s leave nothing for later…

Because still waiting see you later, we can lose the best moments, the best experiences, best friends, the best family…

The day is today… The moment is now…

We are no longer at the age where we can afford to postpone what needs to be done right away.

      SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS

Sixteen of our children participated in the Youth Service on April 23rd. It was a wonderful day, and we look forward to having another Youth Service next year. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.

Our Closing Program was May 7th. We sang The B-I-B-L-E Song, God Is For Me, and Jesus Is My Superhero. All of the children received certificates and gifts bags from the Sunday School. We also presented each of the students that will be starting confirmation class in the fall their own Lutheran Study Bible and a copy of Luther’s Small Catechism. Those students are Alyssa Antel, Isabel Faber, Makayla Foltz, Maeli Kornbau, Seth Kuchmak, and Eli Ruffo. We also recognized our helpers and teachers, Stephanie Banjak, Addison Tice, Grace Pringle, Cathy Faber, Chuck Foltz, Denise Germani, Jayne Kornbau, and Ron Tomko. Thank you to our families and members of the congregation that joined us.

We will be taking the summer off, but we’ll be back in September. Look for information on Rally Day in the August Dorcaszette. Have a safe and happy summer!

Yahoo!!!  A Polka Service…A toe tappin event filled with God’s words…God’s Love and God’s Music!

Come one come all to this very special worship service.  It is filled with almost every emotion there is.  I say this a lot but it truly applies now.  The Lord will have a huge smile on his face when he sees and hears us all on July 9th at 10:00am.  For you to really experience what I mean, you’ll have to come and join in this special service.  We will pray, we will give thanksgiving for all our blessings, we will sing, we will toe tap and we will feel the Lord’s love and His blessings on us all.  For me, I can honestly say…I can’t wait!!

Volunteers needed…In an effort to create an even more friendlyenvironment in our congregation for our members, and for those who are visitors or possibly future members, we are asking that families sign up for a konth of services or may cooperatewith another family for a month or even a week will work.  A signup sheet is in the back of the church.

Don’t forget …

The first Sunday of every month we have loose change for world hunger in our collection plates.   It has been said that our congregation is high in giving within our Synod.  How wonderful!!! We also have Joshua’s Haven collection on going and when the tote in the narthex gets full Stephanie Banjak delivers our donations to Joshua’s .

Please be advised that Bible Study will be on recess for the summer months.  Barry Kimmel will be starting Bible Study up again in the Fall.  Don’t worry we will announce when and what time way before Bible Study resumes again.  Thank You and thank Barry for his expertise and insightful interpretation of the Bible and we hope everyone has a fun filled summer, filled with all good things.

Flag Day is being held on June 14th.  Don’t forget to fly our American Flag with pride in celebration and honor of our country.

FYI:  We have over 100 veterans buried in our cemetery.  Myron Jones is managing the cemetery with Bill Spon as his right- hand man.  Their professionalism and caring really stand out.  And our cemetery is a source of pride and having our Holy Trinity Lutheran Church name on it is a tremendous honor.  And the beautiful fence that Edna Marshall had installed really looks fantastic.

Scholarship Fund guidelines are on the table by the parlor in the church.  They are for the Paula Joyce Meleky Foundation and Holy Trinity Lutheran College Scholarship Fund.  Deadline for application submission is July 30, 2023.   Mail or bring them to the church office.

                            Thank You

When you carry the Bible Satan gets a headache…When you open it he collapses

When he sees you reading it he faints

When he sees that you are living what you read, he flees…

Happy Summer to our Sunday School.  Thank you to those that came to our closing program.  It was so nice to see the Fellowship Hall filled.  The children really appreciated your support. They were wonderful and they sang like Angels.   Thank you to Denise Germani, Jayne Kornbau, Ron Tomko, Chuck Foltz, Stephanie Banjak, Cathy Faber and Addison and Grace for helping wherever needed.

We said a prayer for you today…

And know God must have heard-

We felt the answer in our hearts

Although He spoke no word

We didn’t ask for wealth or fame

(I knew you wouldn’t mind)

We asked Him to send us treasures

Of a far more lasting kind

We asked that He’d be near you

At the start of each new day

To grant you health and blessings

And friends to share your way.

We asked for happiness for you

In all Things great and small-

But it was for His loving care

We prayed for most of all.

God took the strength of a mountain, the warmth of a summer sun, the generous soul of nature, the wisdom of the ages, the joy of a morning in spring, the patience of eternity, the majesty of a tree, the calm of a quiet sea, the comforting arm of night, the power of the eagle’s flight, the faith of a mustard seed, the depth of a family need, then God combined these qualities, when there was nothing more to add, He knew  His masterpiece was complete, and so, He called him…”Dad”

On Father’s Day, June 18th after the worship service, Joe Turney will be grilling Hot Dogs and our Dorcas ladies will be providing the sides to everyone in our Pavilion.  We want to salute Dad’s, Mom’s and Pastor Denny.  So be sure to mark your calendar and join us.

“Jesus Calling”

                                      by Sarah Young

Wait Quietly In My Presence while My thoughts form silently in the depths of your being.  Do not try to rush this process, because hurry keeps your heart earthbound, I am the Creator of the entire universe, yet I choose to make My humble home in your heart,  It is there when I speak to you in holy whispers.  Ask My Spirit to quiet your mind so that you can hear MY still small voice within you.  I am speaking to you continually: words of Life…Peace…Love.  Tune your heart to receive these messages of abundant blessing.  Lay your requests before Me and wait in expectation.

        1 Kings 19:12  Psalm 5:3

Thank you, Karen for another great ‘Jesus Calling” We are very much appreciative of your time and talents.

Some of our home bounds are actually at home, some are in Personal Care  facilities, some are still nervous about covid and are staying home where they feel safe and some are unable to come to church with no fault of their own and we want to share what is going on around our church with them.

They are all so very special and loved so very much.  A phone call, a thinking of you card or maybe even a visit if they know prior to your coming would mean so much.   Please take some time and let them know you are thinking about them, praying for them and missing them.  Thank You.

We also celebrated with Mary Sobey her 102nd birthday.  She does come to church with her children but a card to her would be wonderful as well.  Her address is…

A few words from Patty…

Can you believe that it is June already, I sure can’t.  We have been lucky with warm sunny weather so far and that is a blessing for sure.  I planted a few flowers around my yard and in my flower boxes and thought to myself, gee they are sure small, I hope they grow fast, heck, I hope they grow at all.  I really do not have a green thumb as they say.  I remember my grandmother had one.  Whatever she planted grew big and beautiful.  Although she mostly planted a garden of vegetables with a few marigolds here and there.  For sure that is where my mother got it from but unfortunately it skipped me.  Oh well, we can’t have everything.  I wish my flowers the best of luck and they are going to need it.  Ha! Ha!

I got to speak to my children and grandchildren this past week and boy oh boy do I miss them.  It has been a long time since I got to see them in person.  In fact, it will be a year come Thanksgiving.  Everyone sounds wonderful.  Olivia is living in Denver; Gabriela is living in Virginia and Adriana is living in Florida with my son Shawn.  She is doing a internship at the company he works at.  My daughter is living part time in Virginia and part time in Georgia.  All is going well for them, thank the Lord.  Blessings abound for me.

Pastor Denny is doing well here at our church.  He is helping with almost all aspects of our church.  It is such a godsent that he has joined us.  He comes to his office here at 2pm every day if anyone would like to make an appointment to talk personally to him.  Just call me here or call his cell phone, 724 699-3747 to make an appointment.

We seem to have more people coming to church every Sunday and I just know it is because of him.  He speaks from his heart and people sense that right away. Come and see what I mean, I promise you won’t be sorry.

The last time I had surgery was when I was in 4th grade.  Dr. Riddle operated on my left eye.  God has blessed me because I haven’t had to have any surgery except for delivering two children and I’m not sure if that counts.  I’m guessing no, unless I had a C-section which I didn’t have.  So fast forward to today and guess what?  Yeah, you guessed it I’m pregnant, no…no… just kidding  Ha! Ha!  I have to have surgery on my right eye.  Sounds yucky huh?   I only have to miss two days of work so I guess it isn’t that bad but still.  The surgeon has to put a shunt into my eye to help get the pressure down so I won’t loose sight in it.  I have already lost some but I forget what he said.  The bottom line is that I need surgery.  Yuck again.  It is going to be done on the 7th of June so I hope you will say a prayer for me that all goes well.  I know prayer really works and I will be so grateful for your help.  Thank you so much.  We are having a really busy summer this year with outside services, a Polka service, a musical group joining our service, the Dorcas Rummage Sale and I probably forgot something because what I should be having is a operation on my head to stop forgetting everything.  Maybe it is time to take Prevegen you know that medicine they advertise on TV.  My mother use to tell me that I’d forget my head if it wasn’t attached.  I think she was right.  Oh, woe is me.  Holy cow, I am at the bottom of the page already.  Please take good care, keep smiling and I’ll write more next month be the good Lord willing.

              God’s Peace and my Love,

                               Patty
